NICU Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Level IV Neonatal ICU Contract in Seattle, WA

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Seattle, Washington
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts; days, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week; guaranteed hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Travelers must work two of three holiday blocks during the assignment
• Patient Population: Neonates and infants, occasionally up to 5–6 months of age
• Unit: 32-bed, high-acuity Level IV NICU
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1 or 2:1
• Charting: Epic experience preferred
• Float Expectations: May float within scope to other intensive care, acute care, and lower-acuity units based on patient census and staffing needs
• Call: Potential call requirement
• Time Off: Requested time off must be submitted with the initial application; time off is not permitted during the first two weeks for orientation

NICU Travel RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU registered nursing experience
• Strong Level IV NICU experience with high-acuity neonatal care; experienced Level III NICU RNs with substantial surgical neonatal experience may be considered
• Experience caring for surgical neonates, including post-cardiac and post-abdominal surgery patients
• Experience with ventilator management, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
• Experience with tracheostomy care and management, fluid management, therapeutic hypothermia, and multiple ventilation modes
• Telemetry experience
• Current BLS and PALS certifications; NRP certification is strongly preferred or may be required based on unit standards
• Active Washington RN license, temporary Washington RN license, or eligibility and willingness to obtain Washington licensure before the start date; Compact RN licenses may be accepted
• Completion of at least two previous travel nursing assignments is required
• Travelers new to NICU travel assignments should have approximately 3–4 years of Level IV NICU experience, including care of Level IV patients and prior float experience
• Ability to provide required certifications and complete pre-start education and unit requirements
• Comfort working rotating day and night shifts and floating within scope as needed

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants in a high-acuity Level IV NICU
• Care for patients with complications of prematurity, birth defects, and complex medical or surgical conditions
• Provide care for neonates following cardiac, abdominal, and other major surgical procedures
• Manage ventilated patients and provide tracheostomy care, including fresh tracheostomies when clinically appropriate
• Monitor fluid balance and support therapeutic hypothermia or cooling protocols
• Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to implement timely interventions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic or the designated electronic medical record
• Safely manage assigned patient ratios of 1:1 or 2:1 based on acuity
• Float to other intensive care, acute care, or lower-acuity settings within scope to support patient care needs
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and potential call coverage according to the assignment schedule
