- Location: Seattle, Washington 98105
- Contract: 13-week travel nursing assignment
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; rotating days and nights
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts, generally 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week with guaranteed hours
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Travelers must work two of three holiday blocks during the assignment, totaling four of six applicable dates
- Unit: 32-bed, high-acuity Level IV NICU caring for neonates and infants
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1 or 2:1, based on acuity
- Floating: May float within scope to PICU, CICU, acute care, or lower-acuity areas based on patient volume and unit needs
- Call: Potential call requirement
- Charting: Epic experience preferred
- Openings: Four positions available
Travel NICU RN Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU RN experience
- Experience in a true Level IV, high-acuity NICU strongly preferred
- Experience caring for surgical neonates, including post-cardiac and post-abdominal surgery patients
- Completion of at least two prior travel assignments preferred; first-time travelers may be considered with 3–4 years of Level IV NICU experience, high-acuity patient experience, and demonstrated floating experience
- Current Registered Nurse license in Washington or a compact-state RN license; candidates with a pending Washington license may be considered but must obtain an active license before the start date
- Current BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
- Demonstrated experience with ventilator management, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Experience with tracheostomy care and management, fluid management, therapeutic hypothermia or cooling therapy, and telemetry
- Ability to care for complex neonates and infants with prematurity complications, congenital anomalies, and surgical conditions
- Comfort working rotating day and night shifts and providing required weekend and holiday coverage
- COVID-19 vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants in a Level IV NICU
- Manage patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including post-cardiac surgery, post-abdominal surgery, neural tube defects, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia
- Monitor respiratory status and manage advanced ventilation modalities and other critical-care equipment
- Provide tracheostomy care, manage fresh tracheostomies, and support patients requiring specialized airway management
- Administer and evaluate therapeutic hypothermia or cooling therapy according to clinical protocols
- Perform detailed assessments, manage fluids, administer medications, and recognize changes in patient condition
- Care for patients within typical 1:1 or 2:1 assignments while prioritizing safety, accuracy, and family-centered care
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, surgeons, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Float to other intensive care or acute-care environments within scope as needed to support patient-care operations
- Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively during handoffs
