Seeking a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week acute-care nursing assignment in Galesburg, Illinois. Travel Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the licensing process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Strong assessment, prioritization, medication administration, and care-coordination skills
• Ability to care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Willingness to work every other weekend and holidays as required by the schedule
• Ability to float to another unit when qualified and assume a full patient assignment

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID-19, pneumonia, and post-operative conditions
• Manage patients recovering from procedures such as hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomies, hernia repairs, and bowel resections
• Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications and therapies safely, including commonly used Lasix and heparin infusions, according to policy
• Monitor telemetry patients and promptly communicate changes in rhythm, vital signs, or clinical condition
• Deliver care to patients receiving noninvasive respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Collaborate with hospitalists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nursing assistants, and other members of the care team
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC while maintaining patient safety and continuity of care
• Participate in handoff reporting, discharge planning, patient education, and interdisciplinary communication
