Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Start Date: November 1, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 31, 2027
- Schedule: Approximately three shifts per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Six Saturday or Sunday shifts during a six-week period
- Charting System: Cerner
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
- At least 2 years of professional nursing experience in progressive care, step-down, acute care, or medical-surgical settings
- Previous experience caring for patients with tracheostomies
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care for progressive care and medical-surgical patients
- Previous Cerner experience preferred
- Flexibility and a high level of clinical competence
Progressive Care Unit RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to step-down and medical-surgical patients requiring close assessment, telemetry, and continuous monitoring
- Care for patients with cardiac drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, stable ventilators, and complex wounds
- Perform tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly communicate clinical concerns
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in Cerner
- Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patient care technicians, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Maintain safe patient ratios of approximately 1:3–4 in step-down care and 1:4–6 in medical-surgical care
- Float to other medical-surgical and progressive care units as needed
- Support a positive, adaptable, and patient-centered care environment
