Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Nursing
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina
- Start Date: October 4, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Unit Profile: 40-bed progressive care unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, with stretch staffing up to 1:5
- Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
- At least 1 year of recent progressive care, stepdown, or comparable acute care nursing experience
- Recent telemetry nursing experience
- Demonstrated experience managing titratable or cardiac intravenous medications, such as nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, dopamine, insulin, heparin, or diuretics
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and commitment to compassionate patient care
- Willingness to float to designated medical-surgical, stepdown, COVID, and emergency department holding areas as needed
Progressive Care RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-cardiac procedures
- Care for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker or ICD procedures, and ablation
- Monitor telemetry, assess changing patient conditions, and promptly communicate clinical concerns
- Safely administer and titrate cardiac and critical-care medications according to orders and unit protocols
- Perform focused assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and accurate electronic documentation
- Participate in bedside cardioversion and other progressive care procedures within scope and competency
- Collaborate with providers, technicians, support staff, and families to coordinate individualized patient care
- Support a positive team environment through flexibility, professionalism, and compassionate communication
