Travel Nursing Job Details

• Job Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Neuro-Surgical Telemetry / Progressive Care
• Location: Jackson, Tennessee
• Healthcare Setting: 31-bed stepdown unit with an average daily census of approximately 30 patients
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800-$1,890
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks, ending February 8, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 4-5 patients per nurse
• Call: No on-call requirement
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Three weekend shifts per four-week schedule and holiday availability required
• Orientation: 36 hours

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Tennessee Registered Nurse license or compact RN license
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, cardiac stepdown, or neuro stepdown nursing experience
• Recent Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 18 months, clearly documented in the candidate profile
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with neuro stepdown, progressive care, telemetry monitoring, or cardiac rhythm monitoring
• Ability to care for patients with neuro/telemetry diagnoses, post-myocardial infarction needs, renal failure, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and pre- or post-neurosurgical conditions
• Willingness to float to other medical-surgical or telemetry units and low-acuity ICU assignments as needed
• Strong patient assessment, clinical prioritization, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a neuro and surgical telemetry environment.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, interpret relevant clinical findings, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Perform focused neurological assessments and support care for patients recovering from neurosurgical procedures, stroke, traumatic brain injury, or spinal cord injury.
• Manage telemetry, IV therapy, central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomies, wound vacs, and oxygen or non-invasive airway therapies.
• Administer medications and blood products while following applicable protocols, including heparin and IV insulin protocols.
• Interpret arterial blood gases, manage BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula therapy, and collaborate with respiratory services when indicated.
• Recognize patient deterioration and activate rapid response or code team resources when necessary.
• Document accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Float to designated units while maintaining safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.
