Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Healthcare Setting: Adult and geriatric neuro/surgical telemetry stepdown unit
• Location: Jackson, Tennessee, a welcoming West Tennessee community known for its rich musical heritage, historic character, parks, and convenient access to regional attractions
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts per four-week schedule
• Call: No on-call requirement
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 4–5 patients per nurse
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Unit Profile: Approximately 31 beds with an average daily census of 30 patients

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Tennessee Registered Nurse license or compact RN license
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical, telemetry, stepdown, progressive-care, or related acute-care nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Recent Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 18 months, clearly documented in the candidate profile
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience caring for neuro, telemetry, stepdown, or progressive-care patients
• Ability to float to other medical-surgical/telemetry units or a low-acuity ICU when needed
• Availability to work required weekends and holidays
• Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital experience preferred
• Ability to complete required competency validation and comply with applicable health screening and vaccination requirements

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric neuro and telemetry patients in a cardiac stepdown and progressive-care environment
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, post-neurosurgical needs, post-MI conditions, renal failure, and other complex diagnoses
• Manage telemetry, oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, noninvasive airway support, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs
• Administer medications and therapies according to established protocols, including heparin, IV insulin, blood products, PCA, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Perform focused nursing assessments, interpret ABGs, manage isolation precautions, and document patient care accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Recognize and escalate clinical deterioration while participating in rapid response and code team interventions as appropriate
• Promote safe transitions of care through patient education, care coordination, and effective communication with families and the healthcare team
