Travel Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Contract in Winston-Salem, NC

Earn an estimated $1,710–$1,800 weekly as a Travel Orthopedic Registered Nurse in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Travel Nursing Job Details

Orthopedic Travel RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a compact state
  • At least 2 years of recent orthopedic nursing experience in an acute-care setting
  • Experience caring for post-surgical, orthopedic trauma, hip, total joint replacement, and neuro-spine patients
  • Epic electronic health record charting experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
  • First-time travel nurses may be considered with strong orthopedic and Epic experience
  • Must be comfortable completing required pre-start testing and education within established timeframes
  • Must be able to work night shifts, every other weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled

Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic, spine, medical-surgical, and post-operative patients
  • Assess patients, develop individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate clinical outcomes
  • Manage complex post-operative pain regimens and monitor patients receiving multiple pain medications
  • Administer medications, blood products, oxygen therapy, and treatments according to established protocols
  • Perform and maintain peripheral IVs, provide central line and surgical drain care, and monitor telemetry
  • Care for patients with orthopedic trauma, hip procedures, total joint replacements, spinal cord injuries, and post-neurosurgical needs
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias and other acute concerns
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapy services, respiratory care, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
  • Promote a positive patient experience through clear communication, compassion, and attentive customer service
  • Float within the designated clinical area to support safe staffing and continuity of patient care
