Pediatric Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,740–$1,840
- Start Date: November 30, 2026
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks, ending March 22, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately five weekend shifts during the six-week scheduling period
- Call: May be required based on unit census
- Float: Within the nurse’s scope of practice between pediatric units
- Patient Population: Infants, children, and adolescents
- Orientation: 12 hours
Pediatric RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
- Pediatric nursing or pediatric acute-care experience preferred
- Active Registered Nurse license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
- Recent experience with Epic or a comparable electronic health record; Epic experience required for this assignment
- Ability to provide safe, age-appropriate care for pediatric patients in a fast-paced acute-care environment
- Two professional references covering at least 1 year of recent experience within the last 3 years
- Willingness to float within scope, work scheduled weekends, and support holiday coverage as assigned
Pediatric Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, age-appropriate nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents
- Complete nursing assessments, develop and update care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses
- Provide pediatric medical-surgical nursing care, including support for patients requiring oxygen delivery systems and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Manage central lines and implanted lines while following infection prevention and isolation precautions
- Provide bottle, breast, and gavage feedings and support the safe handling of breast milk
- Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias, interpret cardiac rhythms, and promptly escalate changes in patient condition
- Care for patients with hyperbilirubinemia and other pediatric diagnoses according to established protocols
- Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
- Communicate effectively with families and the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive patient outcomes
- Float between pediatric units as needed and maintain flexibility in response to changing census and patient-care priorities
