Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Travel Registered Nurse – Night Shift in Greeley, Colorado

Join a supportive PCU travel nursing team in Greeley, Colorado, as a Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse. This 13-week travel RN contract is ideal for an experienced PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or critical care nurse who enjoys caring for medically complex adult patients in a collaborative environment. Care for cardiac, respiratory, minor trauma, and mildly unstable hemodynamic cases while working alongside strong interdisciplinary support services.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Location: Greeley, Colorado
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse contract
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • End Date: January 25, 2027
  • Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Shifts: Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other to every third weekend, based on unit needs
  • Call: Not required
  • Floating: May float to medical-surgical units within scope and based on staffing needs
  • Unit Profile: 12-bed Progressive Care Unit with an average daily census of approximately 10 adult patients
  • Orientation: Approximately 24 hours, including required facility-specific learning modules

PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit, PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or critical care nursing experience
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Colorado or a valid compact nursing license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Strong experience caring for adult patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic needs
  • Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, non-invasive airway management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and stable tracheostomy patients
  • Experience with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, blood products, IV therapy, feeding tubes, wound care, and computerized documentation
  • Ability to manage cardiac and vasoactive infusions according to established protocols, including titration when required
  • Willingness to float to medical-surgical units when needed
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome with approximately 2 years of relevant PCU or ICU experience

Progressive Care Unit RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult PCU patients with varying levels of acuity
  • Continuously assess patients for changes in condition and respond promptly to clinical deterioration
  • Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and communicate significant findings to the interdisciplinary care team
  • Manage oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, stable tracheostomy care, and other non-invasive respiratory support
  • Administer medications and manage cardiac or vasoactive infusions in accordance with unit protocols
  • Provide central and peripheral line care, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care, and feeding tube management
  • Use rapid response and code team resources appropriately when patient needs escalate
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation and support safe transitions of care
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation services, IV teams, social services, and other care partners
  • Float within nursing scope to support medical-surgical units when requested
