Travel ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New York
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or cardiovascular critical care nursing experience
- Required experience caring for fresh post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- Cardiovascular critical care experience or certification
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience using the EPIC electronic health record (EHR)
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
Cardiovascular ICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients
- Care for patients recovering from cardiovascular surgery, including fresh post-operative heart patients
- Manage patients with complex diagnoses such as cardiogenic shock, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and other cardiovascular conditions
- Continuously assess patient status, recognize changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring therapeutic responses
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EPIC
- Promote safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care throughout each night shift
