Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: New Haven, Connecticut
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 30, 2026
- End Date: January 29, 2027
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; 36 hours per week
- Unit: 32-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Clinical Setting: Short-term acute care and Level I Trauma Center
- Charting: Epic experience required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Openings: 2
- Travel Assignment Eligibility: Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible
ICU Travel Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical-care nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience caring for critically ill adult or geriatric patients
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to float to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), other ICUs, and an affiliated campus as needed
- Availability for every-other-weekend coverage
- One professional reference required
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for patients with complex and life-threatening conditions
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage ventilator support in collaboration with respiratory services
- Titrate vasoactive medications and manage continuous IV sedation according to clinical protocols
- Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic data, including central venous pressure (CVP) measurements
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency medications
- Provide care for patients experiencing respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, dysrhythmias, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Manage BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and airway suctioning needs
- Assist with chest tube insertion and removal and other critical-care procedures
- Follow infection-prevention practices and isolation precautions
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, rapid response teams, rehabilitation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Float to designated critical-care units while maintaining high standards of patient care and documentation
