Travel Nursing Job Details

Med/Surg Travel RN Job Requirements

• Current, active Registered Nurse license in New York
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
• Demonstrated ability to care for adult patients in a fast-paced inpatient healthcare environment
• Experience with Epic or a comparable electronic medical record system preferred
• Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout their hospital stay
• Provide post-surgical care for patients with conditions including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery needs
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor changes in condition, and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with established nursing standards
• Manage and monitor specialty equipment, including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, medications, and discharge needs
• Document nursing care accurately in the Epic electronic medical record
• Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes
• Float to other units as assigned while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
