Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry or comparable acute-care nursing experience
• Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Meditech electronic medical record experience preferred
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to interpret EKGs and demonstrate basic cardiac drip knowledge preferred
• Team-oriented and flexible approach to patient care, including floating to Med/Surg overflow

Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a telemetry and medical-surgical setting
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, laboratory results, and changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with CHF, chest pain, acute renal failure, COPD, uncontrolled diabetes, and chronic kidney disease
• Provide post-cardiac catheterization care and manage patients receiving basic cardiac therapies
• Complete admissions, discharges, nursing assessments, medication administration, and individualized care planning
• Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly using sound clinical judgment
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, effective patient outcomes
• Float to Med/Surg overflow areas as needed while maintaining safe, compassionate care
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech electronic medical record
