Travel Nursing Job Details

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Illinois
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience; orthopedic nursing experience is highly valued
• Current BLS certification
• NIHSS certification, as required for assigned units
• ACLS certification may be required when floating to higher-acuity or step-down units
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, clinical documentation, and healthcare communication skills
• Ability to work independently on night shift and adapt to changing patient-care needs

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and orthopedic patients during overnight shifts
• Perform focused and head-to-toe patient assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly identify changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders, facility policies, and professional standards
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Support patients recovering from medical conditions, orthopedic procedures, and surgical interventions
• Collaborate with providers, therapists, ancillary departments, patients, and families to promote safe and effective patient care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge-related education
• Participate in every-other-weekend coverage and float to appropriate medical-surgical units when needed
