CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Contract in Winston-Salem, NC

Join a specialized cardiovascular operating room team as a CVOR Travel Registered Nurse in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This 13-week travel nursing opportunity is ideal for an experienced perioperative RN who is confident circulating and scrubbing for complex adult and geriatric cardiothoracic procedures. CVOR Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,320–$2,450
  • Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
  • Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract
  • Start Date: October 26, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: Four shifts per week; 10-hour day shifts
  • Shift Duration: 10 hours; Monday–Friday scheduling, typically 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours
  • Call: Required call rotation, including overnight coverage and approximately one weekend each month
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
  • Unit Size: Three CVOR operating rooms

CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state; pending license may be considered for submission
  • At least 2 years of recent cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
  • Demonstrated ability to circulate and scrub in the CVOR
  • Experience with complex cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Ability to participate in the required call rotation
  • Willingness to float within or near the assigned practice area as needed
  • Ability to complete required pre-start education and testing within designated timeframes

CVOR RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, skilled perioperative nursing care for adult and geriatric patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures
  • Circulate and scrub for procedures including CABG with or without valve repair or replacement, aortic and mitral valve surgery, TAVR, mitral clip procedures, and ASD or VSD repair
  • Support cases involving ascending aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, IABP insertion and removal, redo surgeries, and myxoma removal
  • Participate in thoracic procedures including VATS, thoracotomy, mediastinoscopy, pneumonectomy, esophagogastrectomy, tracheostomy, and robotic thoracic surgery
  • Assist with procedures such as port-a-cath placement, groin exploration, and other complex vascular and cardiothoracic interventions
  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation according to procedure requirements
  • Maintain sterile technique, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and promote patient safety throughout each case
  • Document perioperative nursing care accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary surgical team
  • Provide call coverage and respond promptly to urgent surgical needs
