Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Newberg, Oregon

Emergency Department RN travel nursing opportunity in Newberg, Oregon, offering a 13-week assignment, 36-hour workweek, and care for patients across the lifespan. Join a collaborative emergency care team in a small community hospital just outside the Portland metropolitan area. Newberg is known for its scenic Willamette Valley setting, welcoming community atmosphere, outdoor recreation, local dining, and Oregon wine country.

Emergency Department Travel RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050–$2,160
  • Assignment Dates: October 26, 2026 – January 25, 2027
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
  • Shift Options: Nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., or evenings, 2:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m.; variable night and evening scheduling
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Average Daily Census: Approximately 80 visits
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call: Not required
  • Floating: May float between units or nearby affiliated facilities based on patient-care needs
  • Parking: No-fee parking available

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department Registered Nurse experience
  • Active Oregon RN license or compact RN license in good standing; compact license must be active at submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
  • Recent Epic electronic health record charting experience
  • Experience caring for a broad adult and pediatric emergency patient population
  • Ability to perform triage, stabilize emergency conditions, and support patient transfers when needed
  • Community hospital or Level II trauma experience preferred
  • Reliable vehicle required for the travel nursing assignment
  • Availability to work weekends and at least 3 of 5 designated holidays during the assignment
  • Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate emergency nursing care for patients of all ages and acuity levels
  • Perform timely assessments, triage, reassessments, and clinical documentation using Epic
  • Manage medical, surgical, psychiatric, orthopedic, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies
  • Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, and vasopressors according to established protocols
  • Care for patients requiring respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilator management
  • Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, stroke symptoms, STEMI concerns, seizures, overdose, burns, sepsis, and multisystem emergencies
  • Perform or assist with procedures including IV placement, 12-lead EKG acquisition, phlebotomy, splint application, chest tube management, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Support patients experiencing behavioral health crises, suicidal ideation, or violent behavior using de-escalation and safety practices
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, laboratory, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
  • Float to other units or nearby affiliated facilities as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
