Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660–$1,750
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Unit Focus: Medical-surgical nursing with a neurological focus
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Charting and Unit Systems: EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR
- Scheduling: Block scheduling; every other weekend required
- Additional Scheduling Expectations: Holiday coverage and floating within or near the assigned facility may be required
Medical-Surgical Neuro RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license; pending licensure may be considered for submission
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical nursing
- Recent neurological nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification or experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience caring for patients with cerebrovascular accidents and other neurological conditions
- Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV starts and maintenance, peripheral line care, isolation precautions, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-start testing, including EKG testing for this specialty
- Willingness to participate in required crisis, storm, hurricane, mass-casualty, or disaster response staffing when activated
Medical-Surgical Neuro RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients with a focus on neurological diagnoses
- Assess patient status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly communicate clinical concerns
- Care for patients with conditions including cerebrovascular accidents and general medical diagnoses
- Administer medications safely and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse effects
- Provide telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythm
- Initiate and maintain IV access, manage peripheral lines, and provide respiratory support within scope of practice
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment procedures
- Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary support services to promote safe, coordinated patient care
- Maintain safe patient assignments while supporting unit operations, floating needs, weekend coverage, and emergency response requirements
