Psychiatric RN Travel Job Details
- Position: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) / Behavioral Health Travel Nurse
- Location: Tucson, Arizona 85712
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Duration: 8 weeks, from October 19, 2026 through December 14, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,920–$2,020
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours, with up to 40 hours scheduled
- Shift: Overnight schedule listed as 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; final schedule to be confirmed
- Shift Duration: 8 hours as posted
- Call: No call required
- Patient Population: Adults receiving voluntary, detox, and behavioral health care
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 14 patients
- Travel Requirement: Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the assignment location to qualify as a traveler
- Dress Code: Royal blue or darker blue scrubs
Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing or adult behavioral health nursing experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent nursing education
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current CPI or HWC certification
- Strong patient de-escalation, therapeutic communication, and crisis-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health or psychiatric care environment
- Adaptability to float between the patient care floor and admissions department
- Successful completion of required screening and travel nurse credentialing processes
Psychiatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult behavioral health and detox patients
- Complete psychiatric nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and identify changes requiring intervention
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established orders and standards of care
- Use therapeutic communication, patient de-escalation techniques, and crisis-prevention strategies
- Support patients through behavioral health stabilization and detox-related care
- Collaborate with providers, mental health professionals, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient care accurately in the WellSky electronic health record
- Assist with admissions responsibilities and float as needed to support unit operations
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and maintain readiness with equipment such as code carts, EKG machines, glucometers, and vital-sign monitors
- Promote a respectful, team-oriented, and patient-centered care environment
