Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Odessa, Texas

Join a fast-paced Emergency Department as a Travel ER Registered Nurse in Odessa, Texas. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers $1,820–$1,910 in estimated weekly pay, 12-hour night shifts, and the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a Level II Trauma Center. Work alongside experienced interdisciplinary teams in a welcoming West Texas community in the Permian Basin, known for its sunny climate, friendly atmosphere, outdoor recreation, and regional amenities.

  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 165 visits per day
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Charting: Cerner experience preferred

Travel ER Nurse Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Emergency Department Registered Nurse experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Level II Trauma experience required
  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications
  • Strong experience caring for patients across the lifespan in a high-acuity emergency setting
  • Ability to manage a typical patient assignment of approximately 4 patients
  • Experience with Cerner is preferred
  • Availability to meet the required weekend schedule
  • Requested time off must be submitted with the application
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination is required; approved medical or religious exemptions and declinations are permitted

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatric patients
  • Perform rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, treatment, reassessment, and discharge or admission coordination
  • Care for patients experiencing medical emergencies, trauma, behavioral health crises, overdose, stroke, seizures, respiratory conditions, burns, cardiac dysrhythmias, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Administer emergency medications, blood products, procedural sedation, IV therapies, vasopressors, and continuous sedation or paralytic infusions as clinically indicated
  • Manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP therapy, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and other high-acuity equipment
  • Perform and interpret patient assessments, 12-lead ECGs, dysrhythmia monitoring, and arterial blood gas results
  • Initiate and maintain IV access, obtain specimens, perform phlebotomy, and support diagnostic testing
  • Apply isolation precautions and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients with medical, psychiatric, or behavioral needs
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, interpretation services, and other members of the care team
  • Accurately document care and communicate changes in patient condition using established clinical workflows
