Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York or eligibility for state licensure
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale experience or certification
• Ability to read and interpret basic cardiac rhythm strips before the start of the assignment
• Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment

Med-Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Provide evidence-based nursing care for acute stroke and complex medical-surgical patients
• Support compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and individualized care planning
• Administer medications safely using barcode medication administration standards
• Coordinate care with providers, rehabilitation services, case management, and other interdisciplinary team members
• Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover unit
• Maintain a consistent focus on fall prevention, skin integrity, infection prevention, and overall patient safety
• Collaborate with primary and team nursing staff to promote continuity and quality patient care
