• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,450–$2,580
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care surgical center and operating room preoperative area
• Shift: 10-hour evening shifts, typically 12:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
• Shifts per Week: 4
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Scheduling: No regular weekends on the primary schedule; occasional call and weekend coverage may be scheduled according to department needs
• Call: Approximately 1–2 second-call assignments per schedule, including potential 24-hour weekend call; 30-minute response time
• Patient Volume: Approximately 55–70 cases per day across 15 operating suites
• Electronic Medical Record: Allscripts; transition to Epic is planned

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in an operating room, perioperative, or surgical setting
• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong intravenous (IV) skills
• Knowledge of surgical nursing care and preoperative workflows
• Experience with robotic surgery preferred
• Ability to meet a 30-minute call response requirement when assigned
• Ability to meet applicable travel nursing submission and credentialing requirements, including disclosure of licensing history when requested

Operating Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive preoperative nursing care for patients undergoing same-day procedures and surgeries requiring overnight stays
• Complete patient assessments, medication reconciliation, IV starts, surgical checklists, and readiness evaluations
• Prepare patients for a wide range of surgical procedures in a busy operating room environment
• Apply sound perioperative and surgical nursing knowledge to promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and efficient case flow
• Support procedures involving robotic surgical technology when applicable
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nurses, surgical technicians, patients, and families
• Float to the operating room holding area as needed
• Participate in assigned call coverage and respond promptly to department needs
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
