Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Assignment Type: Medical-Surgical travel nursing contract
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 3, 2026
- End Date: January 2, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, approximately 36 hours weekly
- Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., including a 30-minute meal break
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; day-shift weekend coverage is Saturday and Sunday
- Unit: 18-bed Medical-Surgical/Infectious Disease unit with private rooms
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Strong knowledge of Medical-Surgical nursing, infectious disease care, and isolation precautions
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Recent EPIC documentation experience
- Ability to care for patients with complex infectious diseases, COVID-19, MRSA, C. difficile, and other isolation needs
- Ability to float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed and care for patients within your competency
- Unexpired driver's license required as part of the application documentation
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and infectious-disease patients
- Assess patients, develop and update individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate treatment responses
- Apply appropriate isolation and infection-prevention precautions for patients with communicable conditions
- Manage routine Medical-Surgical IV medications, antibiotics, heparin, and other therapies within scope of practice
- Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Monitor patients receiving CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow therapy in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Respond flexibly to unit needs, including floating to other Medical-Surgical assignments when required
- Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to unit scheduling needs
