Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New York
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Current CPI certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in rotating weekend coverage as needed
- Travel nurses must reside at least 75 miles from the assignment location
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, prioritization, and patient-care skills
Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
- Perform focused nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly identify changes in condition
- Prioritize care for patients with varying levels of acuity in a fast-paced emergency department setting
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, hospital policies, and professional standards of practice
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, technicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Assist with emergency interventions, patient stabilization, and transfers when indicated
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the Epic electronic health record
