Travel RN Job Details
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
- Healthcare Setting: OB/GYN unit with 12 postpartum rooms, 4 swing/antepartum rooms, 5 labor rooms, 4 triage rooms, and 2 operating rooms
- Location: Farmington, Connecticut
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks, ending January 28, 2027
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; every third weekend
- Average Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,580–$2,720
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 in Labor & Delivery, 1:3 in antepartum, and 1:6 for mother/baby couplets
- Documentation and Medication Systems: Epic and Pyxis
- Additional Scheduling: Additional hours may be required as needed to support unit coverage
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut
- Minimum of 5 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a high-risk obstetric setting
- Prior obstetric nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- Current fetal monitoring certification, including AWHONN fetal monitoring certification
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient advocacy skills
- Ability to provide safe, effective care in a fast-paced maternal-child health environment
Travel Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period
- Care for high-risk antepartum patients and mother/baby couplets
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal heart rate patterns, and promptly escalate changes in condition
- Assist with vaginal and operative deliveries, including obstetric procedures and cesarean births
- Provide triage assessments, patient education, emotional support, and discharge teaching
- Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia, neonatal care teams, and multidisciplinary staff
- Maintain adherence to maternal-newborn safety standards, infection prevention practices, and unit protocols
- Support department coverage needs and float within demonstrated clinical competence when requested
