Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York; verification of all active RN licenses through Nursys may be required
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience is required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated ability to provide care for adult post-surgical patients
- Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic medical record system
- Ability to float to other appropriate inpatient units as needed
- Provide an up-to-date resume, skills checklist, and requested time off at the time of submission
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the hospitalization
- Provide post-surgical nursing care for patients with conditions including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery recovery
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with orders, policies, and professional standards
- Safely manage IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, feeding tubes, and other specialty equipment
- Support patient education, discharge planning, mobility, pain management, and recovery goals
- Accurately document nursing care and patient outcomes in the Epic electronic medical record
- Float to other appropriate areas when required while maintaining high standards of patient care
