Med/Surg Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week night shift travel nursing contract in Utica, New York. Medical-Surgical RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,970–$2,080

- Shift: Night shift, 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours guaranteed weekly
- Healthcare Setting: On-site adult medical-surgical unit
- Charting System: Epic
- Additional Information: Floating is required; block scheduling is not guaranteed; navy blue scrubs are required
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience is required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated experience caring for adult post-surgical patients
- Current license verification and professional credentials must be available at submission
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and float as needed
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout hospitalization and recovery
- Monitor and care for patients following abdominal, bariatric, orthopedic, and other surgical procedures
- Assess patients with conditions including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity
- Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patient response and documenting care in Epic
- Use and manage specialty equipment, including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, effective patient outcomes
- Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly
- Float to other units as assigned to support patient care needs
