Join a collaborative progressive care team as a PCU Travel Registered Nurse in Canton, Ohio. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide complex, patient-centered care to a diverse adult population in a 30-bed medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Work alongside experienced clinical resources and a strong interdisciplinary team while enjoying Canton’s welcoming community, parks, and cultural attractions.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Canton, Ohio

- Patient Population: Adult medical patients, including those with GI bleeds, pneumonia, sepsis, and cardiac or renal conditions requiring inotropic therapy
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Start Date: October 27, 2026
- End Date: January 23, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 Registered Nurse to 5 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call: No on-call requirement
- Floating: No floating required
- Scrub Color: Ceil blue
- Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record (EMR)
PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Ohio
- At least 2 years of recent progressive care, step-down, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Associate degree in nursing or nursing certificate
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience caring for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, oxygen supplementation, blood administration, and acute-care interventions
- Ability to manage an assignment of approximately 5 patients while prioritizing changing clinical needs
Progressive Care Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to a diverse adult medical PCU population
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate clinical outcomes
- Monitor patients receiving cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, blood products, and other progressive-care interventions
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including complications related to sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleeds, and cardiac or renal disease
- Administer and manage medications and infusions, including heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, and dobutamine, in accordance with policy
- Perform peripheral IV starts and Foley catheter insertions
- Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, IV services, patient care technicians, case management, transport, and discharge teams
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in Cerner
- Participate in unit scheduling expectations, including weekend and holiday rotation
