Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / PCU / IMC | Dallas, TX

This 13-week travel nursing assignment in Dallas, Texas is ideal for an acute-care RN seeking telemetry, cardiac, and progressive care experience with strong interdisciplinary support.

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, approximately 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Night shifts, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required
  • Unit Size: Approximately 12 beds with an average daily census of 12 patients
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; scrubs are not provided

Registered Nurse Travel Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state
  • At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience, preferably in a cardiac stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, progressive care, or similar acute-care setting
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Recent Epic charting experience
  • Ability to manage a 1:3 patient assignment in a high-acuity intermediate care environment
  • Willingness to float as needed and work every other weekend
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for adult and geriatric cardiac stepdown patients
  • Provide telemetry monitoring and recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms and patient condition
  • Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiography, myocardial infarction, and cardiac surgery
  • Manage central line, PICC, chest tube, tracheostomy, feeding tube, and peripheral IV care
  • Administer blood products, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and non-titrated cardiac or vasoactive infusions according to unit standards
  • Provide respiratory support, including oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP management
  • Interpret relevant laboratory findings, including arterial blood gases, and promptly escalate concerns
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and social services, to coordinate safe and effective patient care
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and activate rapid response or code resources when indicated
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
