Pediatric PACU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Specialty: Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,100–$2,210
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 10-hour shifts
- Shift Options: Day and evening schedules, with start times around 6:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
- Call: Occasional overnight and weekend call may be required; current expectations are approximately four hours every six weeks
- Healthcare Setting: On-site Pediatric PACU in an academic teaching environment
- Patient Population: Infants, children, and adolescents
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 in Phase 1 recovery and 2–3:1 in other recovery areas
- Float: May float to similar- or lower-acuity units, such as the PICU
Pediatric PACU RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of PACU nursing experience
- Required Pediatric PACU experience; experience caring for pediatric patients comprising approximately 30–40% of the patient population is strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Registered Nurse license in Washington or a compact state; candidates without a Washington RN license must be willing to apply upon offer
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
- Demonstrated experience with central line care and management
- Experience caring for patients with fresh tracheostomies and ventilated patients
- Ability to care for high-acuity, medically complex pediatric patients following procedures performed in the operating room, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization laboratory, GI, and procedure areas
- Experience with IV therapy, ventilator care, and a broad range of PACU patient presentations preferred
- Epic experience preferred but not required
Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery care for pediatric patients following surgical and interventional procedures
- Receive and stabilize patients arriving from the operating room, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization laboratory, GI, and procedure areas
- Monitor airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, and pain status throughout the pediatric recovery process
- Manage central lines, tracheostomies, ventilated patients, and other complex care needs within PACU scope
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate clinical team
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, interpretation services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support safe transitions to the next level of care
- Participate in call coverage and float assignments as scheduled
- Contribute to a collaborative, education-focused environment dedicated to excellent pediatric patient care
