Join a collaborative nursing team as a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 13-week travel nursing contract is an excellent opportunity for an experienced inpatient RN to care for postoperative and medical-surgical patients in a 20-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 or 5:1.
The role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with recent experience caring for patients recovering from orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, and general surgical procedures. - Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend expected
- Holiday Requirement: One holiday and one holiday-eve shift may be required based on unit needs
- Unit Environment: 20-bed medical-surgical unit with typical ratios of 4–5 patients per RN
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or an active multistate compact RN license
- At least 1 year of recent clinical experience in medical-surgical, telemetry, or postoperative nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
- Ability to provide safe, organized nursing care in a fast-paced inpatient environment
- Flexibility to float to other units according to staffing and patient-care needs
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Assess, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for assigned medical-surgical and postoperative patients.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, and general surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and communicate concerns promptly to the physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Use the nursing process to coordinate care with patients, families, nursing colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to orders, nursing standards, and organizational policies.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, medications, and discharge needs.
- Direct and support nursing assistants and other clinical support staff in the delivery of patient care.
- Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care coordination accurately and in a timely manner.
- Float to other inpatient units when needed to support safe staffing and continuity of care.
