Apply for a 13-week Cardiac Stepdown RN travel contract in Utica, New York. Join an experienced intermediate care team in a high-acuity Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) caring for adult patients with complex cardiac, neurologic, traumatic, respiratory, and postoperative conditions. This on-site travel nursing opportunity allows Registered Nurses to work alongside interdisciplinary partners while building expertise in advanced specialty equipment and critical stepdown care.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,100–$2,210
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: On-site, 64-bed IMCU with 15 designated neuro beds
- Patient Population: Adults age 18 and older
- Scheduling: Block scheduling may be available but is not guaranteed; floating is required
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York; active licensure and verification of all RN licenses required
- At least 2 years of recent Intermediate Care, Progressive Care, or Cardiac Stepdown nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred and required for submission documentation
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience with EPIC electronic medical records
- Demonstrated ability to care for high-acuity adult patients and adapt to a floating assignment
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with cardiac, neurologic, trauma, respiratory, and postoperative diagnoses
- Manage patients experiencing COPD exacerbation, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, myocardial infarction, and cardiovascular stepdown needs
- Monitor and care for patients requiring temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and advanced oxygen-delivery equipment
- Care for patients receiving chronic ventilator support, collaborating with respiratory therapy when weaning is not possible
- Perform ongoing assessments, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate clinical team
- Safely transition patients through changing levels of care while maintaining accurate documentation in EPIC
- Float to other appropriate units as needed while maintaining safe, evidence-based patient care
