Travel Nursing Job Details
- Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room
- Specialty: Neurology Surgery and Perioperative Nursing
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,700–$2,840
- Schedule: 10-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call: Approximately 1–2 weeknight call shifts per week, with weekend rotation approximately once per month; holiday call may be required
- Assignment: 13 weeks, from October 26, 2026 through January 25, 2027
- Healthcare Setting: Acute care operating room with four suites
- Charting System: EPIC Optime
- Dress Code: Blue scrubs provided; personal shoes required
Operating Room Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois license application has been initiated
- At least 1 year of recent Neurology OR experience
- Demonstrated experience with spinal fusions and craniotomies; candidates must be well-rounded across additional neurologic surgical cases
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Ability to work 10-hour day shifts and participate in required weekday, weekend, and holiday call rotations
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, patient safety, and surgical documentation
OR Nurse Responsibilities
- Serve as the circulating Registered Nurse for neurologic surgical procedures, including spine and cranial cases
- Prepare operating rooms, verify equipment and supplies, and promote adherence to sterile and safety protocols
- Complete preoperative assessments, intraoperative monitoring, surgical counts, documentation, and postoperative handoffs
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and the broader perioperative team
- Support approximately 200 neurologic surgeries per month across the department’s operating room suites
- Respond to assigned weekday, weekend, and holiday call needs
- Use EPIC Optime accurately and efficiently to document patient care and surgical activities
- Maintain a calm, organized, and patient-focused environment during complex procedures
