Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 3, 2026
- Contract End Date: February 2, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,620–$1,710
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
- Charting System: Epic
- Weekend Coverage: Weekend shifts are required
- Floating: Floating to support patient care needs is required
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand, either state-specific or compact, as applicable
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in an acute-care, cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or intermediate-care setting
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience with Epic electronic health record charting
- Strong cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience caring for patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, renal, and postoperative needs
- Ability to meet assignment-specific travel nursing eligibility and compliance requirements
Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or intermediate-care unit
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Manage telemetry, cardiac drips without titration, heparin protocols, insulin protocols, oxygen therapy, and high-flow nasal cannula care
- Provide care for patients with ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, and wound vacs
- Administer medications and blood products safely while following established protocols
- Perform comprehensive assessments, maintain accurate Epic documentation, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
- Support patients with conditions including CVA, renal failure, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and postoperative or orthopedic trauma needs
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other support services
- Participate in rapid response and emergency care activities as needed
- Float to other appropriate units when required to support safe and effective patient care
