Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Healthcare Setting: 32-bed cardiac stepdown and progressive care unit
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4 on nights
- Call: Not required
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately 12 weekend shifts during the contract
- Orientation: 12 hours
Travel Registered Nurse Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact RN license in hand at submission
- At least 1 year of recent acute-care nursing experience; 2 years preferred
- Experience in an intermediate care, progressive care, cardiac stepdown, or similar high-acuity nursing setting
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current NIHSS and CPI certifications
- Demonstrated experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips, post-cardiac catheterization care, and ventilated patients
- Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator management, central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, PICC lines, and vascular access
- Strong patient assessment, communication, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, renal, and complex medical conditions.
- Monitor cardiac telemetry, recognize dysrhythmias and changes in cardiac rhythm, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Manage and monitor cardiac and vasoactive infusions according to established protocols.
- Deliver pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterizations, angiograms, TAVR procedures, Watchman procedures, sheath removal, and TR bands.
- Care for patients recovering from CABG, myocardial infarction, post-TPA treatment, and other cardiac interventions.
- Provide tracheostomy care and care for patients requiring continuous mechanical ventilation or noninvasive respiratory support.
- Administer medications, blood products, insulin protocols, anticoagulation therapies, and other prescribed treatments safely.
- Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, manage lines and drains, interpret relevant laboratory results and ABGs, and document care in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners.
- Participate in emergency response, patient education, discharge planning, and safe transitions of care.
- Float between appropriate units when needed and maintain flexibility for weekend and holiday scheduling.
