PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience, preferably in a PACU, post-operative, critical care, or closely related setting
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license with eligibility to practice in Massachusetts
- Demonstrated knowledge of post-anesthesia monitoring, recovery nursing, and post-operative patient care
- Ability to assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and respond promptly to clinical needs
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and critical-thinking skills
- Successful completion of required skills verification, credentialing, and assignment-specific onboarding
- Professional references and an up-to-date resume
PACU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, airway status, pain, level of consciousness, and surgical site evaluation
- Identify and promptly report changes in patient condition or potential post-operative complications
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with orders, policies, and professional nursing standards
- Manage pain, nausea, airway support, and other immediate post-anesthesia recovery needs
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, nurses, and other members of the care team to support safe patient transitions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly
- Provide patient and family education related to recovery and discharge instructions
- Participate in rotating call coverage as scheduled
