Travel Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Kankakee, Illinois

Join an experienced acute-care team as a Travel Telemetry Registered Nurse in Kankakee, Illinois. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers the opportunity to provide cardiac monitoring and compassionate patient care in a supportive medical telemetry unit. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract

• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending March 15, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 5:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; typically three shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Charting System: EPIC electronic medical record
• Uniform: Caribbean-colored scrubs

Telemetry Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care or medical telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• Recent EPIC electronic medical record experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
• Strong cardiac monitoring, patient assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for patients on a 31-bed medical telemetry unit
• Manage an average nurse-to-patient assignment of approximately 1:5–6
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure, stroke, chest pain, diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, detox-related needs, and other cardiac conditions
• Care for patients recovering from radial-band and femoral cardiac catheterization procedures
• Administer and monitor ordered medications and infusions, including Lasix, heparin, Bumex, Protonix, and octreotide
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with providers, centralized telemetry technicians, nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Float to medical floors or step-down areas when needed to care for patients appropriate for the telemetry level of care
