CVOR Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent CVOR or cardiovascular operating room nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, surgical safety practices, and cardiovascular procedures
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and weekends as scheduled
• Excellent communication, teamwork, organization, and clinical judgment

CVOR Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, attentive nursing care throughout cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Prepare the operating room, equipment, supplies, and patient for scheduled cardiovascular procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow surgical safety, infection prevention, and quality standards
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes during the perioperative period
• Complete accurate clinical documentation in Allscripts and communicate essential patient information during handoffs
• Assist with efficient operating room turnover and maintain readiness for cardiovascular cases
• Support positive patient outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based perioperative nursing practice
