Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
• Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, approximately 36 hours weekly; shifts begin at 7:00 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in the holiday rotation
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Like units only; higher-acuity assignments are limited to a helping role without a patient load
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Dress Code: Black scrubs
• Orientation: One 12-hour unit orientation shift; the first day may be 12–14 hours for orientation, competencies, and computer-based modules

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Illinois
• At least 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience
• Recent medical-surgical and surgical nursing experience
• Experience caring for total joint replacement patients
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current NIHSS certification
• EPIC experience required
• Ability to independently interpret telemetry strips; telemetry monitoring support is available
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care environment with complex and high-volume patient needs

Med-Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients in a busy inpatient surgical unit
• Care for patients recovering from laminectomies, cervical fusions, joint replacements, abdominal surgeries, ostomy procedures, vascular procedures, amputations, and urgent operating room cases
• Manage patients with sepsis, diabetes, chronic pain, PICC lines, TPN and lipids, PCA pumps, epidurals, and intravenous antibiotics
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and escalate clinical changes appropriately
• Titrate heparin infusions according to protocol and safely administer narcotics and reversal medications
• Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, nursing aides, respiratory therapy, virtual nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Support patient admissions and discharges while maintaining accurate, timely documentation in EPIC
• Provide safe, compassionate care for a heavy patient assignment in a high-volume environment
• Complete required pre-start computer-based learning modules and unit competencies
