Med/Surg RN Contract Job Details

• Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Start Date: November 11, 2026
• Schedule: Three shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Unit: 24-bed orthopedic and surgical unit
• Scheduling: Block scheduling requests may be considered based on unit needs
• Unit Assignment: Flexibility to work on either of two surgical units; nurses remain on the assigned unit for the full shift

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• BSN required
• Active Pennsylvania RN license or Compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Experience providing inpatient nursing care to busy postoperative surgical patients
• Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Flexibility to support multiple surgical units based on staffing needs
• Orthopedic Med/Surg or surgical nursing experience preferred

Orthopedic and Surgical Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to postoperative orthopedic, vascular, spine, and Med/Surg patients.
• Care for patients recovering from total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, complex spine procedures, amputations, bypass procedures, and other surgical interventions.
• Administer pain medications, monitor vital signs, complete patient assessments, and provide ongoing postoperative monitoring during busy night shifts.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered care environment while supporting a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5.
• Collaborate with nursing assistants, ancillary staff, and the overnight resource nurse to promote efficient patient care.
• Adapt to Med/Surg overflow needs, particularly during weekends, and float between designated surgical units as assigned.
