Emergency Room Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• At least 1 year of recent emergency department nursing experience
• Strong emergency nursing assessment, triage, and patient prioritization skills
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with emergency physicians and the healthcare team
• Willingness to work 12-hour overnight shifts and accept occasional charge nurse assignments

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the emergency department
• Perform safe, rapid, and accurate emergency department triage based on patients’ physical and psychosocial needs
• Determine care priorities while supporting efficient patient flow through the emergency department
• Monitor patients closely and recognize changes in condition or response to treatment
• Communicate promptly with emergency physicians regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results
• Deliver flexible, professional, and compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced acute-care environment
• Assume occasional charge nurse responsibilities and support the safe coordination of emergency department operations
