Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license, or confirmation that the licensure application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or acute-care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in an inpatient hospital environment
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, organization, and communication skills

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout each shift
• Perform patient assessments, monitor changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders and nursing standards
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, recovery, and discharge needs
• Support a safe, respectful, and patient-centered care environment
