Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN), Medical-Surgical
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care hospital
• Location: Peru, Illinois
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Schedule: Every other weekend and rotating holidays
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Dress Code: Solid-color scrubs without prints

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required; 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois license application has been initiated
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to participate in weekend and holiday rotations

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients with pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical diagnoses, total joint procedures, general surgery needs, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Complete patient assessments, develop and update individualized plans of care, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition, collaborating with providers and the interdisciplinary care team as needed
• Care for stable patients receiving home-regimen BiPAP and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Collaborate with patient care technicians through regular touchpoints to coordinate nursing care, including Foley care, CHG bathing, oral care, and other activities of daily living
• Document accurately and timely in Epic
• Support safe patient flow and teamwork by floating to other acute-care areas or a nearby campus when operational needs require
• Promote a respectful, patient-centered environment through clear communication with patients, families, and the care team
