Director of Nursing - Emergency Department

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Join a healthcare team as Director of Nursing for the Emergency Department. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced nursing professional with strong clinical expertise and a proven track record of improving staff engagement, retention, patient throughput, and workplace culture. Strong ED Manager candidates may also be considered.

The 263-bed acute care hospital provides comprehensive services, including 24/7 emergency care, surgical services, stroke care, radiology, and oncology. The Director will oversee clinical, administrative, and financial operations while promoting high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and evaluate Emergency Department operations and nursing teams.
• Develop strategic plans, mentor staff, and establish leadership succession plans.
• Build collaborative relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Improve quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, staff engagement, retention, and throughput.
• Oversee staffing, productivity, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop departmental policies, training programs, and quality initiatives.
• Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-reduction strategies.
• Collaborate on community outreach and initiatives to enhance organizational visibility.
• Foster a compassionate, supportive, and accountable workplace culture.

Requirements:

• BSN from an accredited nursing program required. Candidates without a BSN must be enrolled in an accredited program with a scheduled completion date, as applicable.
• Current RN license acceptable to the applicable State Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• At least 2-3 years of nursing management experience, depending on applicable position criteria.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
• Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Certification in a clinical specialty or nursing administration.
