⢠About Facility:
⢠207 licensed beds
⢠No Trauma Designation
⢠Not a Teaching Hospital
⢠Chest Pain Center
⢠Stroke Center
⢠Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
⢠Unit Information:
⢠Beds: Will vary based on unit
⢠Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele RN (Resource Team requirement)
⢠Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred but will consider
⢠Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation
ADTU
⢠12 Beds
⢠Patient Types: Med/Tele Overflow area to support all inpatient units/ED holding; Diagnoses include but are not limited to: CHF, COPD, Chest Pain workup, Stroke s/s, Respiratory issues, etc.; Testing is prioritized
⢠Patient Ratios:
⢠RN: 1:5-6 (critical surge 1:7-8)
⢠CNA: 1:6-12
⢠Required Licensure & Certifications:
⢠BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
⢠Skills required:
⢠General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
⢠Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF
⢠Support within the Department:
⢠CNA
⢠Receptionist/HUC
⢠Charge nurse – may or may not have patients
⢠Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws
⢠IV/VAT Team: 11a-7p, 11p-7a
⢠Resource Nurse – as staffing allows
⢠RT, 24/7
⢠Hospitalist, 24/7
⢠Intensivist - ICU provider in house until 11p M-F, till 7p Sat/Sun, VCC coverage and on call Intensivist
⢠Telemetry monitoring/tech? no
⢠Technology/Equipment:
⢠EMR: Epic
⢠IV Pump: Alaris
⢠Med dispensing: Omnicell
⢠Monitors: Phillips
⢠Floating: If yes, where?
⢠All units within scope at Mercy
⢠Within region and scope of practice
⢠Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
⢠Please see job posting for dedicated region and discuss the region that applies (will change per requisition)
⢠Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
⢠Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital)
⢠Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
⢠If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
⢠Orientation (facility and unit):
⢠NEO
⢠2 days departmental
⢠Scheduling:
⢠Weekend rotation: every other
⢠No call
⢠Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
⢠RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
⢠Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
