Job Summary for Surgical Technologist / OR Tech (Operating Room)

- Prepare and organize operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
- Assist surgeons and surgical team by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Maintain strict sterile technique and monitor the sterile field throughout surgeries.
- Perform and document accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Support patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping for surgical procedures.
- Prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens according to protocols.
- Proactively anticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team.
- Aid in operating room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent cases.
- Inspect and assemble surgical instruments, ensuring proper function and readiness.
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and report shortages or equipment malfunctions.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, OSHA, and facility guidelines.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia, and other healthcare personnel.
- Assist in various types of surgeries, including general, orthopedic, neuro, and gynecological cases.
- Respond effectively to urgent and emergency situations, ensuring patient safety and sterile technique.
- Accurately document procedures and comply with hospital and departmental policies.
