Radiologic Technologist – CT Scan

Job Summary

The CT Scan Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic computed tomography (CT) examinations safely and accurately. The technologist prepares patients, operates CT imaging equipment, follows established imaging protocols, and collaborates with radiologists and the healthcare team to provide high-quality diagnostic images.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform CT examinations according to physician orders and established imaging protocols.
• Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination requirements.
• Explain CT procedures to patients and provide appropriate instructions before, during, and after examinations.
• Position patients correctly and ensure proper use of immobilization and safety devices when required.
• Operate CT scanners and imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
• Administer contrast media as permitted by facility policy, scope of practice, and applicable regulations.
• Monitor patients during examinations and recognize/report adverse reactions or changes in condition.
• Follow radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Obtain high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining appropriate technical parameters.
• Review images for positioning, quality, and completeness before sending them for interpretation.
• Perform required quality-control procedures and report equipment issues appropriately.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR/RIS/PACS.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and facility policies.
• Assist with emergency situations and provide appropriate patient care within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe CT imaging environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience working as a Radiologic Technologist in CT Scan.
• Knowledge of CT imaging protocols and procedures.
• Strong patient-care and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced diagnostic imaging environment.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and contrast safety.
• Ability to accurately operate CT equipment and imaging technology.

Certifications & Licensure

• Active Radiologic Technologist license/registration as required by the state.
• ARRT certification in Radiography and/or CT, as required by the facility.
• BLS may be required depending on facility requirements.
