Description

RN – Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Position: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Specialty: Labor & Delivery / Women’s Services
Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
Shift Type: Night Shift
Schedule: 3 shifts/week, as applicable

Job Summary

The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN monitors maternal and fetal status, administers medications, assists with deliveries, and responds to obstetric emergencies.

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
Perform maternal assessments and monitor vital signs.
Conduct continuous and intermittent fetal heart rate monitoring.
Assess labor progression and identify potential complications.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as ordered.
Assist with vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
Provide care for high-risk and complicated pregnancies.
Assist with inductions and augmentation of labor.
Monitor patients receiving epidural/spinal anesthesia.
Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, including fetal distress and postpartum hemorrhage.
Provide newborn care immediately following delivery.
Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
Collaborate with OB physicians, anesthesiology, NICU, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

Active RN license
Recent Labor & Delivery experience
AHA BLS required
ACLS required/preferred depending on facility
NRP required/preferred depending on facility
Strong fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency skills
Previous travel nursing experience preferred for travel assignments

Med Ninjas Job ID #17085. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
