Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing safe, high-quality patient care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practices. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, implement individualized care plans, monitor patient conditions, and ensure positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.

• Implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient responses to treatment.

• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.

• Monitor vital signs, identify changes in patient conditions, and escalate concerns promptly.

• Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation in the Epic EMR system.

• Conduct patient admissions, discharges, hourly rounding, and patient education.

• Maintain patient safety through fall prevention, pressure injury prevention, isolation precautions, and safe ambulation practices.

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

• Delegate appropriate tasks to Healthcare Technicians (HCTs) and verify completion.

• Participate in bedside shift reports and communicate important patient information.

• Respond promptly to patient call lights and address patient needs efficiently.

• Support timely diagnostic testing, observation care, and discharge planning.

• Follow departmental policies, nursing standards, and patient safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience.

• Experience working in a Level I Trauma facility (Trauma I).

• Previous Epic EMR experience.

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or equivalent qualifying nursing education.

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing.

• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• 3 shifts per week

• 36 hours per week
