Description
Job Summary:
- Provides professional nursing care for a group of patients within a designated time frame using the nursing process, institutional philosophy, and available resources.
- Performs all unit-specific responsibilities and duties within the scope of service.
- Implements nursing procedures, theories, and best practices related to the NICU.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation to ensure information is integrated for use by the healthcare team.
- Completes initial patient assessments upon admission and develops individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Executes and modifies plans of care and nursing interventions based on continuous patient evaluation.
- Ensures patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to resolve issues and ensure high-quality care.
- Provides constructive feedback to peers and collaborates with colleagues for professional development and expanded knowledge.
- Identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative to address them.
- Fulfills all departmental competency requirements.
- Monitors intake and output for neonatal patients.
- Assists mothers with breastfeeding initiation and supports baby-friendly care practices.
- Administers medications using proper bar code scanning protocols.
- Reports on patient status during multi-disciplinary rounds.
- Requires a minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience, an Illinois state RN license in good standing, BLS and NRP certifications, and experience with EPIC, Trauma 1, and Level 3 or 4 hospital settings.
- Work schedule is 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
- Minimum education requirement is an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Must be proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing).
Med Ninjas Job ID #6252. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
